Description of the studied specimens from the Canary Islands. Body length up to 2.28 mm, excluding antennae (average 1.83 mm, n = 11). Ground colour white or very light blue, with the characteristic transversal stripes on posterior area of tergites Th II to Abd III, and two transversal bands on Abd IV; some specimens have less pigmentation, reduction principally on head, Th II and Abd IV; femur with a pigmented patch on its distal area; antennae with patches on distal segments, and in some specimens whole Ant III and IV pigmented ( Figs 3E View FIGURE 3 , 4N View FIGURE 4 ).

Head. Eight eyes, GH 1/2–1/3 than EF. Antennae length 0.98 mm, 2.60 times the length of the head (n = 11 for all measurements). Ant IV with apical vesicle simple or bilobed. The relative length of Ant I/II/III/IV = 1/1.87/ 1.79/2.01. Prelabral chaetae ciliated. Labral multi-spinose ( Fig. 16E View FIGURE 16 ). Lateral process of labial papilla E reaching the papilla end.

Body. Length ratio of Abd IV/III = 3.82 (n = 12). Trochanteral organ with 15–23 chaetae. Tibiotarsus not subsegmented, without smooth chaetae, except for smooth terminal chaeta on legs III. Claw with four teeth: paired at 50–60% and first unpaired at 75% from basis; dorsal teeth basal or at a middle location between the claw basis and the lateral teeth level ( Fig. 16F View FIGURE 16 ). Empodium lanceolate, with external lamella smooth of leg III. Tenent hair clavate. Length of manubrium and dens 0.32 and 0.40 mm, respectively (n = 12). Manubrial plate with four chaetae and two pseudopores. Mucro with teeth similar in size, mucronal spine reaching the tip of the subapical tooth ( Fig. 16G View FIGURE 16 ).

Macrochaetotaxy ( Figs 16A–D View FIGURE 16 ). Simplified Mc formula: 3-1-0-3(2)-2/2-3/2-2/1-2-1/0-2-3-2-2. On H4 sometimes S1 is absent in five specimens among 15. Mesothorax: area T1 with two Mc (m1 and m 2i); T2 with three Mc (m4, m 4i and m5). Abdomen: Abd II area A1 with two Mc (a2 and a3), area A2 with two Mc (m3 and m3ea; m3ep is present on five specimens of 15); Abd III with one Mc each on areas A3 (a1) and A5 (m3) and two Mc on A4 (a2 and a3); Abd IV with Mc E1 and C1, in five of the 15 specimens studied, B3 is present, but up to four, on A7 (A3, B3, C1 and E1), three Mc on A8 (A4, B4 and C2a) and two Mc on A9 (A5 and B5) and A10 (A6 and B6).

Ecology. In Fuerteventura, found in shrubs on slopes, in the litter and on rocks. In Gran Canaria, on moss on rocks in a shrubland-forest area. In Lanzarote, in an area between a village and a crop area, with annuals, on rocks. In Tenerife, in very different habitats: litter of Adenocarpus , Erica , Myrica , Pinus and banana, under rocks and grass field at the seashore.

Remarks. The species has a very wide distribution around the world. Table 6 details the differences in species that can be confused with E. multifasciata , such as E. luqueensis Baquero, Arbea & Jordana, 2010 , E. vadelli Jordana & Baquero, 2005 (in: Jordana et al. 2005), E. flavovirens Furgoł, 2017 and E. nigrocincta , whose female has great colour similarity to E. multifasciata . It is separated from E. nigrocincta by the chaetotaxy of Abd III: 1-1-1. It is separated from the others by colour: the absence of colour in E. flavovirens , and almost no colour in E. vadelli , a cave Entomobrya with a spot on the side of Abd IV. Entomobrya . luqueensis is similar in colour to E. multifasciata , although somewhat more intense, but it differs in that it lacks Mc S 4 in area H4 of the head, it always has four Mc in area A6 of Abd IV, and Mc A3 and B3 are present in area A7 of the same segment.
