Type material. A female on slide, SPAIN, Canary Islands, Hierro, Mirador de Jinama , laurel forest, 15.III.1988, 238/88, coordinates 27.76067°N, 17.98253°W, 1010 m a.s.l., (Loc. 02) A. Fjellberg leg. ( MZLU-VAR00001166 ) GoogleMaps . Paratypes: same data as Holotype , one specimen in ethyl alcohol ( MZLU-VAR00001167 ) GoogleMaps .

Description. Body length up to 2.10 mm, excluding antennae (Holotype). Ground colour white or very light blue, with pigment on lateral body, two dorsolateral patches (Abd I), three (Abd II and III) dorsolateral and central patches, and two longitudinal dorsolateral patches (Abd IV) with irregular edges; head with central area without pigment; tibiotarsus with lateral pigment on posterior half; antennae with pigment from middle Ant I ( Figs 3F View FIGURE 3 , 4E View FIGURE 4 ).

Head. Eight eyes, GH smaller than EF. Antennae length 1.99 mm, 3.62 times the length of the head; Ant IV with apical vesicle simple; relative length of Ant I/II/III/IV = 1/1.74/1.61/2.06. Prelabral chaetae ciliated. Labral papillae not observed. Lateral process of labial papilla E 1/3 shorter than the papilla.

Body. Length ratio of Abd IV/III = 4.59. Trochanteral organ with approximately 40 chaetae. Tibiotarsus not sub-segmented, without smooth chaetae, except for smooth terminal chaeta on legs III. Claw with four teeth: paired at 50% and first unpaired at 75% from basis; the basal plate seems not to reach the level of the first unpaired tooth; dorsal tooth with its tip reaching the level of lateral teeth ( Fig. 17E View FIGURE 17 ). Empodium lanceolate, with smooth external lamella in leg III. Tenent hair clavate. Length of manubrium and dens 0.50 and 0.71 mm, respectively (Holotype). Manubrial plate with five chaetae and two pseudopores. Mucro with teeth similar in size, mucronal spine reaching the tip of the subapical tooth ( Fig. 17F View FIGURE 17 ).

Macrochaetotaxy ( Figs 9A–D View FIGURE 9 ). Simplified Mc formula: 3-3-0-3-1a/4-4/2-3/1-2-1/3-5-3-2-2. Mesothorax: area T1 with four Mc (m1, m2, m 2i and an additional Mc at the level of m1); T2 with four Mc (m4, m 4i, a5 and m5). Abdomen: Abd II area A1 with two Mc (a2 and a3), area A2 with three Mc (m3, m3ep and m3e); Abd III with one Mc each on areas A3 (a1) and A5 (m3e) and two Mc on A4 (a2 and a3); Abd IV with three Mc on A6 (A e2, B e2 and B e3), five Mc on A7 (A3, A e3, B2, B3 and C1), three Mc on A8 (A4, B4 and C2a), and two Mc on A9 (A5 and B5) and A10 (A6 and B6).

Ecology. Found in a laurel forest.

Etymology. This new species is dedicated to a woman Guanche warrior with a Canarian origin name that means ‘wonderful’.

Remarks. The description of this species has been considered in this paper, although there are only two specimens because it is the only new species found from El Hierro Island. If the macrochaetotaxy of Th II, Abd II and Abd III is considered simultaneously, only one species, E. nevadensis Steiner, 1959 has the same number of Mc on Th II, Abd II and Abd III /4-4 /2-3/1-2-1. The Mc m1, m2, m 2i and m 2i 2 are present on the T1 area of E. nevadensis , while the four Mc on the sp. nov. are m1, m1e, m2 and m 2i; they also differ on the Mc distribution on Abd IV 5-2 -1 0 3-1 0 2-2 with two unpaired Mc (A0 4 and A0 5) instead of 3-5-3-2-2 on the sp. nov., and in the comparison of the claw, as shown in Figs 17E and 17G View FIGURE 17 , both drawings from the types. In addition to the colour pattern, two dorsolateral rows of dark spots from Th II to Abd III ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 F’) are quite different from the sp. nov. E. nevadensis has only A5 present on the H2 area of the head, and it has on Abd IV with Mc formula 5-2-1 0 3-1 0 2-2, different from the sp. nov.
