Habit and distribution.

Shrubs; southern Madagascar (Fianarantsoa, Toliara).

Notes.

Most individuals of this species have pairs of falcate, foliaceous, clasping stipules and stellate pubescence. Plants with similar stipules, but usually broader and more silvery-lepidote lower leaf surfaces were described under Croton meridionalis var. latifolius and C. meridionalis var. stipularis , which may represent a different species (see Incertae Sedis).
