Type material: Holotype: male from Estaç „o Científica Ferreira Penna, FLONA Caxiuan„, Melgaço, Pará, Brazil (01º51’19.3”S, 51º25’57.5”W), Nov. 11, 2005, J.A.P. Barreiros leg., deposited in MPEG 37719, PBI_OON 45533 GoogleMaps . Paratypes: same locality and collector as holotype, (01º44’14.67”S, 51º27’18.84”W) Apr. 13, 2006, 1♁ (MPEG 37720, PBI _ OON 45641 ); (01º46’41.4”S, 51º 25’ 28.7”W) GoogleMaps , Nov. 07, 2005, 1♁ (MPEG 37721, PBI _ OON 45575 ) ; 1♀ (MPEG 37723, PBI _ OON 45615 ); (01º45’12.8”S, 51º31’14.7”W) GoogleMaps , Apr. 23, 2006, 1♁ (MPEG 37722, PBI _ OON 45649 ); (01º44’15.5”S, 51º26’42.0”W) GoogleMaps , Oct. 25, 2003, 1♀ (MPEG 10287, PBI _ OON 45330 ) ; Aug. 14, 2003, 1♀ (MPEG 10288, PBI _ OON 45329 ) .

Etymology. The specific name is a patronym honoring the recently deceased arachnologist Norman I. Platnick (AMNH), mastermind of the goblin spider PBI and a passionate defender of the PBI as a gold standard format for revisional taxonomy (see Platnick, 1999).

Diagnosis. Males of this species resemble those of H. tallitae sp. nov. by the posteriorly directed endite’s P1, reaching the anterior margin of sternum, and by the convergent endite’s P1 with conspicuous prolateral process ( Figs 28C View FIGURES 28 , 31B View FIGURES 31 ). They differ by the prolateral process tear-shaped, smooth ( Fig. 31B View FIGURES 31 ) (crestlike, serrated in H. tallitae sp. nov., Fig View FIGURES 28 . 28C). Females resemble those of H. excavata sp. nov. and H. tallitae sp. nov. by the lack of a postepigastric scape and by the postepigastric plate long, tongue-shaped ( Figs 31J View FIGURES 31 , 65G View FIGURES 65 ). They differ by the postepigastric plate not excavated, with margins not strongly sclerotized ( Figs 27F–H View FIGURES 27 , 28J View FIGURES 28 ) (excavated in H. excavata sp. nov., Fig. 66J View FIGURES 66 ; strongly sclerotized in H. tallitae sp. nov., Fig. 27G View FIGURES 27 ).

Description. Male (PBI_OON 45533). Total length 1.65. CEPHALOTHORAX: Carapace orange-brown, with Coxapopha-like pattern, pars cephalica domed in lateral view, surface of elevated portion of pars cephalica smooth, sides striated, fovea present ( Figs 29B–C View FIGURES 29 ). Eyes ALE circular, PME squared, PLE oval; posterior eye row straight from above, procurved from front; ALE separated by their radius to diameter, ALE-PLE separated by less than ALE radius, PME touching throughout most of their length, PLE-PME separated by less than PME radius ( Fig. 29E View FIGURES 29 ). Sternum as long as wide, orange-brown, median concavity absent, with radial furrows between coxae I–II, II–III, III–IV, furrow with rows of small pits, surface finely reticulate, without pits, microsculpture everywhere but front; prosoma pedicelar region with process ( Figs 29D View FIGURES 29 , 31A View FIGURES 31 ). Mouthparts: Chelicerae, endites and labium orange-brown. Chelicerae distal region abruptly narrowed ( Figs 29E–F View FIGURES 29 ). Labium anterior margin anteriorly projecting at middle, wider than long ( Fig. 29F View FIGURES 29 ). Endites with a median projection (mp), an prolateral process of P1, an P1 and P2; mp very short, very sclerotized; P1 lamellar, directed posteriorly, situated laterally to mp; prolateral process of P1 smooth; P2 very short, situated anteriorly to P1 ( Figs 31B–C View FIGURES 31 ). ABDOMEN: dorsum soft portions yellow. Book lung covers small, very narrow. Dorsal scutum orange-brown, covering full length of abdomen, no soft tissue visible from above. Epigastric scutum not protruding. Postepigastric scutum orange-brown, almost semicircular, covering nearly full length of abdominal length ( Figs 29B,G View FIGURES 29 ). LEGS: pale orange. GENITALIA: Epigastric region with sperm pore situated at level of posterior spiracles. Palp proximal segments pale orange; embolus tube-shaped, tip flattened, not bent upwards; conductor present, without projections, longer than embolus, tip wider than the base ( Figs 29G–I View FIGURES 29 , 31E–H View FIGURES 31 ).

Female (PBI_OON 45329). As in male except as noted. Total length 1.78. CEPHALOTHORAX: Carapace without any pattern, pars cephalica strongly elevated in lateral view ( Fig. 30B View FIGURES 30 ). Eyes posterior eye row recurved from above ( Fig. 30E View FIGURES 30 ). Sternum microsculpture medially and in furrows ( Fig. 30D View FIGURES 30 ). Labium rectangular. GENITALIA: Ventral view: postepigastric plate long, almost reching the middle of postepigastric scutum), narrowed from half to tip, with posterior longitudinal slit; copulatory orifice forming a narrow vertical slit, situated behind elevated anterior margin of posterior ventral scutum in depression; slit posterior end slightly widened; postepigastric scape absent. Dorsal view: anterior genitalic process with narrow recurved arms; posterior uterine sclerite with a slit-shaped opening in its anterior surface ( Figs 30G–H View FIGURES 30 , 31J–L View FIGURES 31 ).
