Note.

Hyphydrus aubei is the fourth European species in the Hyphydrus ovatus species group sensu Biström (1982). It does not belong to the Hyphydrus ovatus complex as here defined and it is easily separated from the preceding three species based on colouration (Figures 4-5).

Material examined.

Turkey: 1♂, 2♀♀, Muğla vil. [=province], Köyçeğiz, 27.v.1991, S. Schödl leg. (NHMW, NMPC).

Distribution.

Predominantly a Mediterranean species. First record from Turkey.
