Names.

Myanmar: dauk-yut, mwet-kang, nle-prangkau, pya. English: sweetleaf.

Range.

China, India, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. Widely distributed in Myanmar.

Use.

Fruit and Bark: Used to treat opthalmia.

Notes.

In India the bark is used for bronchitis, digestive and urinary disorders, menorrhagia, eye diseases, ulcers, bleeding gums, maturation of wounds, liver problems, elephantiasis, and fat in the urine ( Jain and DeFilipps 1991).

The bark contains starch, calcium oxalate, alumina, alkaloid, tannin; but no saponin, oil, or fat ( Perry 1980).
