Lectotype (Dandy, Sloane Herbarium: 112. 1958): [icon] " Magnolia Lauri  folio, subtus albicante" in Catesby, Nat. Hist. Carolina 1: 39, t. 39. 1730.

Current name: Magnolia virginiana L.  ( Magnoliaceae  ).

Note: Tobe (in Hunt, Magnolias: 180. 1998) provides an illustration of the lectotype.
