Hosts. Plantaginaceae : Plantago spp. ( Spencer 1990) .

Mine. ( Figs. 253, 254 View FIGURES 253–260 ) The larva forms a narrow irregular linear leaf mine, mainly on the upper surface. Pupation takes place within the mine.

Puparium. ( Figs. 255, 256 View FIGURES 253–260 ) Colourless, translucent, with blackish-brown anterior and posterior spiracles, 2.5 mm long, with distinct segmentation; surface quite smooth except for narrow bands of minute spines. Posterior spiracles set on short, stout, conical protuberances and entirely separate; with nine sessile bulbs set in a kidney-like configuration. Anal plate slightly protruding above the surface of the puparium viewed from the side and directed ventro-posteriorly.

Cephalopharyngeal skeleton. ( Fig. 628 View FIGURES 628–633 ) Right mouthhook slightly larger than the left, each bearing two wide accessory teeth. Intermediate sclerite short and slightly curved, with narrow, sharp protuberance located ventrally; sclerite 1.08× as long as maximum height of left mouthhook. The mouthhook and the intermediate sclerite ventrally are strongly sclerotized; the intermediate sclerite dorsally and the pharyngeal sclerite are much less so. The ventral cornu bears a narrow “closed” window located centrally. Indentation index 80. See also in Sasakawa (1961: Fig. 140 l View FIGURES 138–149 ).

Female head. ( Figs. 629, 630 View FIGURES 628–633 ) Yellow, with only arista, pped, oc tr and postgena black, outer surface of pedicel brown; orbit distinctly projecting above eye in profile; 2 orb s, 1 fr s; lunule broad, low, semicircular, reaching the level of fr s; pped large, elongated; gena medially 0.34× as high as maximum height of eye.

Female genitalia. ( Figs. 631–633 View FIGURES 628–633 ) Capsule of spermatheca relatively small, 0.17× as high as height of anterior part of oviscape. Spermathecae equal in size, brown, flattened basally and apically, wider than high, with surface corrugated. Internal duct invagination cylindrical, 0.66× as deep as height of spermatheca. Spermathecal duct weakly sclerotized. Ventral receptacle compressed S-shaped, with weakly sclerotized tail that is bowl-shaped in basal half. Body of receptacle spherical with uniformly curved basal connecting tube, strongly sclerotized, 0.75× as wide as capsule of spermatheca; with opening located on narrow projection, 0.68× as wide as diameter of spherical part of body. Distribution. Holarctic, Neotropical, Oriental and Australian Regions ( Papp & Černý 2019). Ukraine (first record).
