Type Locality: Jamaica.
Vernacular Names: Antillean Ghost-faced Bat.
Synonyms: Mormoops cinnamomeum Gundlach 1840 ; Mormoops cuvieri Leach 1821 .
Distribution: Greater Antilles, adjacent small islands.
Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (nt).
Discussion: See Lancaster and Kalko (1996) and Timm and Genoways (2003). Often spelled blainvillii , but this was an incorrect original spelling; the correct spelling is blainvillei (see Opinion 462 of the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature, 1958 b). The ICZN placed blainvilli on the Offical Index of Rejected and Invalid Specific Names in Zoology, and placed blainvillei on the Offical List of Specific Names in Zoology in Opinion 462.
