Distribution and habitat: — Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama at 5–1150 m in humid forests.

Remarks: —“ Hemitelia costaricensis Mettenius ” (1864: 263) is an earlier nom. nud.
