COENAGRIONIDAE View in CoL “Pseudostigmatinae” (Tillyard, 1917)
The pseudostigmatines are the largest damselflies on earth. Seeing them fly in a tropical forest is a surreal experience; their long slender bodies and huge colorfully-tipped wings instill wonder and fascination for the beauty of nature and insects. The adults glean small spiders from webs; nymph development takes place entirely in phytotelmata. No single reference adequately covers the identification of all the species; for generic determination and references to species, see Garrison et al. (2010).
No known copyright restrictions apply. See Agosti, D., Egloff, W., 2009. Taxonomic information exchange and copyright: the Plazi approach. BMC Research Notes 2009, 2:53 for further explanation.
