[Handwritten (by Tams)] | W.H.T.Tams det.” [Printed]. “Lamont | Collection | 1950.16” [Printed] with label with “ TYPE ” [Handwritten in red ink], glued to it. “ Metalectra piperata Kaye ” [Handwritten Lamont cabinet label]. Label by M.J.W.Cock. 1977, justifying holotype status of species.

Remarks: This specimen collected at Palmiste, Trinidad on 18th May 1921 by Sir N. Lamont is unambiguously the holotype. It is illustrated in colour in Pl. XLV: fig. 4 ( Kaye 1925, Kaye & Lamont 1927). Poole (1989) erroneously suggests that the [holo] type is in the BM(NH).
