Ceroptres kovalevi Belizin, 1973 . Revue d’Entomologie d’URSS 52 (1): 37. Type material: ZIN [type material examined by the first and the last authors in Lobato-Vila & Pujade-Villar (2019)].
Ceroptres masudai Abe, 1997 . Appl. Entomol. Zool. 32 (1): 253. Type material: KPU according to Abe (1997). Synonymized by Lobato-Vila & Pujade-Villar (2019: 33).
Material examined (1♀). Newly reared material deposited in UB with the following data: KOR: 14, Daejeon, Chungnam National University campus ( South Korea), Ex. asexual galls of Plagiotrochus kunugiphagus , Q. acutissima , (30.ix.2017) 16–31.x.2017, Roca-Cusachs leg.
Distribution. Far Eastern Russia, Japan, South Korea and Eastern mainland China ( Belizin 1973; Abe 1997; Abe et al. 2007; Wang et al. 2012; Lobato-Vila & Pujade-Villar 2019; this paper).
Biology. Originally reared from an unknown gall ( Belizin 1973). According to Pénzes et al. (2012), previosuly reared from galls of Andricus kashiwaphilus Abe, 1998 , A. mukaigawae (Mukaigawa, 1913) and Ussuraspis nervosa Kovalev, 1965 collected in Japan and Far Eastern Russia ( Abe 1997; Melika 2012); from galls of Andricus targionii Kieffer, 1903 and A. pseudoflos (Monzen, 1954) in Japan ( Abe 1997; Abe et al. 2007); from leaf galls of an undescribed Ussuraspis species in Far Eastern Russia (Melika 2012) and, occasionally, from galls of Andricus hakonensis (Ashmead, 1904) (= A. attractus Kovalev, 1965 , = A. symbioticus Kovalev, 1965 ) ( Wachi & Abe 2010). The galls from which C. kovalevi (= C. masudai ) has been reared have been collected on Quercus dentata Thunb. and Q. serrata Murray ( Abe 1997; Abe et al. 2007; Wang et al. 2012). The new material included in this paper was reared from asexual galls of Plagiotrochus kunugiphagus (Ide & Abe, 2015) (new combination after Pujade-Villar et al. 2020) on Quercus acutissima Carruth.
