Species recognition. See Species recognition for D. commina , above.

Description. Body length: 2.81–3.06 mm. Head: Frons dark brown, except light brown on anterior margin and around bases of setae, second row of setae slightly concave. Flagellomere 1 rounded-oval, brown. Palpus of normal size, dark orange-brown. Thorax: Scutum light brown. Scutellum dark brown, with 2 pairs of setae; anterior seta two-thirds length of posterior seta. Pleuron light brown. Mean costal length 0.51 wing length. Halter yellow. Legs yellowish-brown, except apex of hind femur dark brown. Forecoxa in lateral view yellow. Foretibia with 4–5 dorsal setae. Foretarsomeres slender, elongate. Midcoxa dark brown. Hind coxa yellowishbrown. Hind coxal lobe light brown, moderately developed, triangular in lateral view. Posterior face of hind femur with small basal triangular group of peglike setae on basal triangular lobe; greatly more distally with small emargination followed by short, rounded, toothlike process; process with white membrane visible with light microscopy ( Figs 237–238). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 yellow, with faint brown transverse marking, tergites 2–6 mostly yellow, with small lateral darker markings. Venter of abdomen yellow, with few setae, larger on posterior margin of segment 5. Male terminalia with epandrium yellowish-brown, hypandrium brown, and cercus yellow.

Distribution. Known from a single site in Amazonian Colombia.

Derivation of specific epithet. Named for our Colombian colleague, Dr. Fernando Fernandez.
