Dohrniphora preacuta View in CoL sp. n.

( Figs 239–240)

Species recognition. This species belongs to a possibly monophyletic group including D. acuta and D. subacuta , both of which also have two pointed processes on the hind femur, as well as other species of the D. caguanensis group treated above. Both D. preacuta and D. subacuta have three rows of peglike setae, whereas D. acuta has only two. The uniformly dark brown abdominal tergites, other characters in the key, easily distinguish D. preacuta from the other two species.

Description. Body length: 2.19 mm. Head: Frons dark brown, second row of setae slightly concave. Flagellomere 1 rounded-oval, brown. Palpus of normal size, brown. Thorax: Scutum dark brown. Scutellum dark brown, with setae broken. Pleuron dark brown. Costa 0.49 wing length. Halter brown. Legs yellowishbrown, except apex of hind femur dark brown. Forecoxa in lateral view yellow. Foretibia with 4 dorsal setae. Foretarsomeres slender, elongate. Midcoxa dark brown. Hind coxa yellowish-brown. Hind coxal lobe light brown, only slightly developed. Posterior face of hind femur with basal group of three curved rows of peglike setae; more distally with two short pointed toothlike processes and elongate distally tapering concavity ( Figs 239–240). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 dark brown, tergites 2–6 dark brown. Venter of abdomen gray, with few setae, larger on posterior margin of segment 5. Male terminalia dark brown, except cercus yellow.

Distribution. Known from a single site in Colombia.

Derivation of specific epithet. Named for its resemblance to D. acuta .
