Species recognition. This mostly brown species can be recognized by the dimorphic basal setae followed by a small, clear concavity.
Description. Body length: 2.66 mm. Head: Frons dark brown, second row of setae slightly concave. Flagellomere 1 rounded-oval, slightly pointed, brown. Palpus of normal size, light brown. Thorax: Scutum brown. Scutellum dark brown, with setae broken. Pleuron brown, except dorsum of anepisternum dark brown. Costa 0.52 wing length. Halter whitish-yellow. Legs light brown. Forecoxa in lateral view light brown. Foretibia with 6 dorsal setae. Foretarsomeres slender, elongate. Midcoxa dark brown. Hind coxa light brown.
Hind coxal lobe light brown, short, round. Posterior face of hind femur with small basal group of peglike setae; dorsal and basal setae larger than others; more distally with small clear concavity ( Figs 253–254). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 dark brown, tergites 2–6 dark brown. Venter of abdomen gray, with few setae, larger on posterior margin of segment 5. Male terminalia brown, cercus yellow.
Distribution. Known from a single site in Panama.
Derivation of specific epithet. From Latin for unequal, referring to the differing size of the peglike setae.
