Species recognition. This species is recognized by the basal double line of peglike setae, the sinuous carina underneath them, and the distinctive coloration of the abdominal tergites.
Description. Body length: 1.41–2 mm. Head: Frons dark brown, second row of setae slightly concave. Flagellomere 1 rounded-oval, light brown. Palpus of normal size, yellow. Thorax: Scutum light brown. Scutellum dark brown, with 2 pairs of setae; anterior seta one-half length of posterior seta. Pleuron with proepisternum and dorsum of anepisternum brown, rest of pleuron yellowish-brown. Mean costal length 0.47 wing length, range 0.43–0.51. Halter yellow. Legs yellowish-brown. Forecoxa in lateral view yellow. Foretibia with 4 dorsal setae. Foretarsomeres slender, elongate. Midcoxa brown. Hind coxa yellow. Hind coxal lobe yellow, only slightly developed. Posterior face of hind femur with short double line of peglike setae, well dorsal of ventral margin of hind femur; more ventrally with sinuous carina ( Figs 185–186). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 yellow, with dark brown posterior and lateral margins, tergites 2–6 with tergite 2 yellow anteriorly and brown posteriorly; subsequent tergites with decreasing yellow areas. Venter of abdomen yellow, with few setae, larger on posterior margin of segment 5. Male terminalia dark brown, except cercus yellow.
Distribution. Argentina and Colombia.
Derivation of specific epithet. From Latin for bending carina, referring to the sinuous carina on the hind femur.
