Species recognition. This species is recognized by the structure of the hind femur, with the basal group of peglike setae lacking lines, the distal carina being weakly developed, and the basal carina being abruptly curved dorsally.

There is considerable variation among specimens under this name, and more than one species might be involved.

Thorax: Scutum dark brown. Scutellum dark brown, with 2 pairs of setae; anterior seta one-half length of posterior seta. Pleuron with proepisternum and dorsum of anepisternum dark brown, rest of pleuron brown. Mean costal length 0.49 wing length, range 0.47–0.51. Halter brown. Legs yellowish-brown,except hind femur mostly brown. Forecoxa in lateral view yellowish-brown. Foretibia with 4 dorsal setae. Foretarsomeres slender, elongate. Midcoxa dark brown. Hind coxa yellowish-brown. Hind coxal lobe light brown, short, with ventral, dorsally curved, bare digitiform process. Posterior face of hind femur with small basal group of peglike setae; more distally with shallow concavity with weak distal carina; basal carina abruptly dorsally directed below setae ( Figs 99–100). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 dark brown, tergites 2–6 dark brown. Venter of abdomen gray, with few setae, larger on posterior margin of segment 5. Male terminalia dark brown, except cercus yellow.
