Type Locality: Bolivia, Santa Cruz, "Sta. Cruz de la Sierra." .

Vernacular Names: Greater Fairy Armadillo.

Synonyms: Calyptophractus clorindae (Yepes 1939) .

Distribution: Gran Chaco of N Argentina, W Paraguay, and SE Bolivia.

Conservation: IUCN – Vulnerable as Chlamyphorus retusus .

Discussion: Commonly listed under Burmeisteria retusa ; listed under Chlamyphorus retusus in Wetzel’s (1985 b) review and by Gardner (1993).
