Edosa hamata Yang, Wang & Li , sp. nov.

( Figs 2 View FIGURE 2 , 19 View FIGURES 19 e, 27, 58)

Type material. Holotype ♂, CHINA: Mt. He (22°45'N, 112°57'E), Guangdong Province, 6.viii.2002, leg. Guilin Liu & Hong Pang, genitalia slide No. YLL11082.

Paratype: CHINA: Hainan Province: 1 ♂, Liulianling (18°57΄N, 110°26΄E), Wanning, 100 m, 24.vii.2008, leg. Bingbing Hu & Li Zhang, genitalia slide No. XYL08066.

Diagnosis. This new species is quite similar to E. pyrochra ( Gozmány, 1965) in the male genitalia, but can be separated from the latter by the uncus lobe with distal half hooked, the valva having a very shallow ventral lobe, and the stouter aedeagus. Whereas in E. pyrochra , the uncus lobe is ensiform, the valva has a deep ventral lobe, and the aedeagus is slender.

Description. Adult ( Fig. 27 View FIGURES 20 − 27 ). Wingspan 12.0−12.5 mm in male. Head ochreous yellow. Antenna ochreous yellow, 0.9× length of forewing; scape with a few black pecten bristles; flagellum unicolorous. Labial palpus yellowish brown, second segment dark brown on outer surface. Thorax and tegula blackish brown. Forewing index 0.3, grayish black, individual scales uniformly colored; retinaculum present; cilia grayish black. Hindwing pale brownish gray, with a single short, slender evenly curved frenular bristle; cilia pale gray. Fore and mid legs blackish brown except tarsus yellowish brown mixed with black scales; hind leg yellowish brown.

Pregenital abdomen. In male, first tergum without sclerotization; coremata present in eighth segment; eighth sternite half as long as wide, without caudal process; eighth tergite trapezoidal, without caudal process.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 58 View FIGURES 57 − 59 ). Vinculum with anterior and posterior margins parallel sided; medial process absent from ventrocaudal margin. Tegumen about 0.6× depth of vinculum, trapezoidally concave at middle on anterior margin, convex at middle on posterior margin. Uncus with shouldered base touching each other, forming an heartshaped membraneous section with tegumen; uncus lobe 0.75× depth of vinculum, twisted at middle, basal half slightly expanded, punctate, distal half heavily sclerotized, hooked, smooth dorsally, hairy ventrally, apex narrowly rounded and melanized; sclerite absent between uncus lobes. Valva somewhat elongate triangular, narrowed basally, widest at 1/4, then narrowing to a large horn-like distal process; costal margin gently curved, unmodified; basal flange large, recurved, thumb-shaped; bridging lobe absent between basal flange and valva; ventral margin convex, forming very shallow ventral lobe; basal margin with digital ‘secondary apodeme’ close to apodeme; inner surface unmodified. Juxta angled caudally, short, flat, trapezoidal, about 0.3× length of aedeagus. Aedeagus stout, about 0.75× length of valva, basal 1/3 being a pair of paddle-shaped structure, apex deeply concave at middle. Bulbus ejaculatorius 4.0× length of aedeagus, slightly expanded at base, where ductus ejaculatorius is slightly coiled; subdistal section not hypertrophied; distal section slightly expanded, semicircular.

Female unknown.

Distribution. China (Guangdong, Hainan).

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin hamatus, meaning hooked, referring to the hooked distal half of the uncus lobe.
