Description of Lathrolestes laevipleuris sp. nov.
Figs 8b, 22–25.
Diagnosis. This species differs from close related L. orbitalis (Gravenhorst, 1829) and L. moravicus (Habermehl, 1923) by smooth and polished mesopleuron (Fig. 8b). Body brownish ( Fig. 25 View FIGURES 22 – 25 ).
Description. Holotype male. Body size 6 mm. Antenna with 24 flagellomeres. Scape 0.67X as long as wide. Head narrowed behind eyes, matt ( Fig. 23 View FIGURES 22 – 25 ). Maximal length of temple 0.73X transverse eye diameter; minimum length of temple 0.5X transverse eye diameter. Face as wide as eye height; convex, with bulge, with fine deep punctures ( Fig. 22 View FIGURES 22 – 25 ). Clypeus separated from face by impression; at apex projecting slightly anteriorly; apical margin of clypeus moderately thick ( Fig. 22 View FIGURES 22 – 25 ). Clypeal foveae small. Malar space 0.47X basal mandible width. Occipital carina complete, not interrupted above. Lower mandible tooth longer than upper.
Notaulus shallowly impressed far beyond. Mesopleuron with fine punctures, polished, smooth. Mesonotum with fine deep punctures. Claws pecinate at base. Fore wing with areolet petiolate. Stigma intercepted by radius at its middle. Second recurrent vein with a single bulla. Nervellus intercepted below middle. Nervulus interstitial. Propodeal carinae partly present; area superomedia obliterated anteriorly ( Fig. 24 View FIGURES 22 – 25 ).
Metasoma matt, with rare white hairs. First metasomal tergite 0.4X as wide apically; with median longitudinal groove; bordered by lateral longitudinal carinae; median longitudinal carinae defined at half of the tergite. Male genitalia with parameres slightly surpassing apex of metasoma.
Body brownish ( Fig. 25 View FIGURES 22 – 25 ). Mandibles, base of antenna, apical part of clypeus, legs yellowish. Stigma brownish.

Material. Holotype male, Finland, Åland archipelago, Kökar, Hellén, ( FMNH)
Etymology. The species epithet, laevipleuris , refers to the surface of mesopleuron.
