Type locality: Brazil .

Distribution: BRAZIL — Minas Gerais:Caparaó, Mar de Espanha, Passa Quatro (Serra dos Cochos), Viçosa, and Virgínia (Fazenda dos Campos); Rio de Janeiro: Itatiaia (Maromba), Petrópolis, Resende (Visconde de Mauá) and Teresópolis (Parque Nacional da Serra dos Órg„os—PARNASO); S„o Paulo: Bocaina, Ilhabela (Praia do Perequê), S„o Paulo (Jabaquara), Serra da Cantareira and Serra do Japi; and Santa Catarina.

Host plant: Adenostemma brasilianum (Pers.) Cass. (Asteraceae) — Jolivet (1986); Calea pinnatifida (R.Br.) Less. (Asteraceae) , and Eupatorium sp. (Asteraceae) — Pasteéls et al. (2004).

Parasite: Chrysomelobia elytrosphaerae Fain, 1987 ( Acari : Podapolipidae ), Olafithiana joliveti (Fain,1987) ( Acari : Canestriniidae )— Santiago-Blay & Fain (1994).

Note: Cosmisteisa Gistel, 1848 is currently synonymous with Elytrosphaera Blanchard, 1845 ; for more details on the taxonomic history of the genera, see Bezděk (2020).

Material examined (1 specimen): BRAZIL. Rio de Janeiro: Itatiaia , 1 specimen, 01. I. 1926, J. F. Zikán leg. ( INPA).
