Tipula (Yamatotipula) pruinosa Wiedemann

( Figs. 65–73 View FIGURES 65–73 )

Examined material: 290 egg-larvae from female captured in Vilnius district, N54.70365, E25.40598, 0 6 V 2013, eggs were laid on 0 7 V 2013, egg-larvae hatched on 10 V 2013.

First instar larva. Length 1.52–1.58 mm, width 0.30–0.31 mm. Body covered with pale microscopic hairs. Cuticle transparent.

Head capsule. Length 0.30–0.32 mm, width 0.19–0.21 mm. In general, very similar to that of T. (L.) vernalis and other above mentioned species. Differences were noticed in shape of hypostomium, mandible, antenna and arrangement of sensory structures on labrum and antennae. Hypostomium bears six teeth, two middle teeth small and sharp, laterally from them on both sides one large blunt tooth; the outermost tooth on both sides is the smallest ( Fig. 65 View FIGURES 65–73 ). Mandible differs significantly from that of T. (L.) vernalis and other above mentioned species, this species has large protuberant basal apically bifid tooth ( Fig. 66 View FIGURES 65–73 ). Shape of antennal segment and size of apical papilla differ from that of T. (L.) vernalis and other above mentioned species. It also bears three medium long sensory papillae (other species have 4–5) and single long seta ( Fig. 67 View FIGURES 65–73 ). Labrum in general very similar to that of other known Tipula , but arrangement of setae differs from them ( Fig. 68 View FIGURES 65–73 ): one medium long and one long seta present on membranous part on both sides of labrum. Four short and one long setae located on anterior part of labrum, two very short setae present on anteriolateral part of labral lobe, one long and one very short seta located on posterior part of labral lobe. Arrangement of setae on frontoclypeus is slightly different from that of other known Tipula ( Fig. 69 View FIGURES 65–73 ).

Thorax. Very similar to that of other known Tipula .

Abdomen. In general very similar to that of other known Tipula . All abdominal setae comparing with that of other Tipula are much longer. D5 the shortest ( Fig. 70 View FIGURES 65–73 ). D6 twice as long as D5. D1 and D3 similar in length and three times as long as D5. D2 and D4 the longest and four times as long as D5. D2–D3 and D5–D6 make pairs and are very close to each other. V1 absent ( Fig. 71 View FIGURES 65–73 ). V5 the shortest. V2 just slightly longer as V5. V4 almost twice as long as V5. V3 the longest and almost three times as long as V5. V2–V3 and V5–V4 make pairs and are very close to each other. L1 the shortest, with bifid apical part and each part bifid again. L2 and L4 1.5 times as long as L1. L3 the longest and three times as long as L1 ( Fig. 72 View FIGURES 65–73 ).

Spiracular disc. Spiracular field ( Fig. 73 View FIGURES 65–73 ) surrounded by four round-tipped flat and elongate lobes. Lateral lobe 1.5 times as long as width at the base, almost entirely covered with pale elongated sclerite and bears eleven stout different in length apical bristles, the shortest 1.5 times, the longest twice as long as lobe. Inner margin of lobe with dark short curved sclerite which extends almost to the base of ventral lobe. Ventral lobe almost as long as wide at the base and entirely covered with dark sclerite. Four very long setae located at the apex of lobe. Five single shorter setae located on inner margin of lobe and next to them is a single long seta. Single long basal seta located on outer margin and two short setae located between apical and basal setae (on outer margin). Dorsal margin of spiracular disc with six irregularly shaped angulate sclerites. Two pairs of central sclerites similar in size, each of them bear three apical setae. Lateral sclerite very small with two apical setae. Two long and two short setae situated closer to the base of lateral lobe. Spiracles small and circular, distance between them almost 1.5 diameter of a spiracle.

Anal field. Anus surrounded by four white, elongated and fleshy anal papillae which are similar in length. Both anal papillae five times as long as wide at the base.
