Type (designated by F.Round in Round et al. 1990: 704): — Szechenyia antiqua Pant.

Notes:— Szechenyia Kanitz is named after the Hungarian explorer, Béla Széchényi (1837–1918), whereas, Szechenyia Pant. honours Count Ferenc Széchényi (1754–1820) founder of the Hungarian National Museum and grandfather of the former.
