Common name. Thracian spirlin.

Diagnosis. Distinguished from other species of Alburnoides in Mediterranean, Marmara, Black, and Caspian Sea basins and Hari by: ● maximum body depth usually smaller than head length / ○ horizontal eye diameter equal or larger than interorbital distance / ○ ventral keel covered by scales at about half its length / ○ caudal peduncle depth 9–11 % SL / ○ pigmentation of lateral line slightly distinct in anterior part of but indistinct in posterior part / ○ snout length is markedly shorter than interorbital distance / ○ usually 46−52+2−3 lateral-line scales / ○ 11−12½ branched anal rays / ○ 6−8, usually 7, gill rakers. Size up to 94 mm SL.

Distribution. Türkiye and Bulgaria: western Black Sea basin in Trace from Veleca south to İstanbul and east to Karasu (Sinop) drainage. Absent from Sakarya. Anatolian records need confirmation.

Habitat. Hill streams and small rivers with moderate to fast-flowing water and gravel substrate.
