Common name. Aras loach.
Diagnosis. Distinguished from other species of Oxynoemacheilus in Caspian basin by: ● flank mottled, often forming an irregularly shaped midlateral stripe, without distinct bars or large blotches / ○ lateral line complete / ○ caudal slightly emarginate / ○ suborbital groove present in male / ○ caudal–peduncle depth 1.3–1.6 times in its length. Size up to 117 mm SL.
Distribution. Caspian basin: Aras drainage.
Habitat. Rivers and streams with fast-flowing water and gravel or boulder substrate.
Biology. No data.
Conservation status. LC.
