Symplectoscyphus naumovi— Peña Cantero, 2010a: 39 (synonymy); 2014a: 1724, fig. 6e.
Material examined. Stn 17, three incipient stems up to 2 mm high on stone (MNCN 2.03/638); Stn 112, three tiny stems up to 7 mm high on Hydrodendron arboreum and pebbles (NIWA 117580).
Measurements (in µm). Hydrothecae: length of abcauline wall 590–650, length free part of adcauline wall 490, length adnate part of adcauline wall 180–220, length adcauline wall 710, diameter at aperture 210–250, diameter at diaphragm 150, maximum diameter 250.
Ecology and distribution. Eurybathic species ( Peña Cantero 2010a), collected from the tidal level ( Blanco 1984) to a depth of 1379 m ( Peña Cantero & Ramil 2006); present material between 346 and 422 m, epilithic on pebbles and stones, and epibiotic on Hydrodendron arboreum .
Circum-Antarctic species ( Peña Cantero & Ramil 2006). Recently reported from off Queen Mary Coast ( Peña Cantero 2014a). See Peña Cantero (2010a) for previous records. Present material is the first record from the Ross Sea, collected off Cape Adare and Possession Islands .
