Type species. Makrokylindrus fragilis Stebbing, 1912

Diagnosis. Female and subadult male. Pereopods 3–4 with or without rudimentary exopods. Telson tubular, postanal portion much shorter than pre-anal portion.

Adult male. Antennule not expanded with large brush of setae. Antenna long. With 2 pairs of pleopods. Remarks. The new species described here is the first record of Makrokylindrus from New Zealand waters. New Zealand species. Makrokylindrus semiechinata n. sp.
