Recorded across Canada from the Northwest Territories east to Nova Scotia with the exception of Saskatchewan ( Campbell 1991d); scattered distribution in the Maritime Provinces ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 ). In the United States from Maine south to Maryland and west to Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and South Dakota ( Downie & Arnett 1996). Larvae are found in decaying woody sections of moss­covered logs in boreal­like areas (e.g. edges of bogs) ( Young 2002).
