Diagnosis

Scatonomus viridis viridis , S. janssensi and S. mitzae sp. nov. are distinguished from other species of the genus by having a single central emargination on clypeal edge, without teeth or lateral emarginations ( Figure 3 View Figure 3 (g, h, l)). Scatonomus viridis viridis is distinguished from S. janssensi by the clypeal edge rounded, projected forward, neither widely margined nor strongly upturned ( Figure 3 View Figure 3 (l)); and dorsal surface of clypeus lacking anteromedian longitudinal carina. In comparison with S. mitzae sp. nov., S. viridis viridis differs by having a shallow central clypeal emargination ( Figure 3 View Figure 3 (l)); antenal club coated with very short setae; elytral striae slightly narrowed, lateral margins distinctly carinate, width of striae on disc at least 7 times narrower than the third interstria.

Redescription

Male: length: 11 – 12 mm. Dorsum black, with greenish or reddish reflections ( Figure 1 View Figure 1 (l)). Head: densely punctate, wrinkled ( Figure 3 View Figure 3 (l)). Anterior edge narrowly margined ( Figure 3 View Figure 3 (l)). Clypeo-genal suture sulcate, almost straight. Fronto-clypeal suture weakly defined between eyes. Clypeus with a transverse elevation at posterior portion. Two shallow impressions on interocular space. Anterior clypeal and genal edges with a row of sparse ventral setae. Ventral surface of clypeus densely punctate, wrinkled and glabrous. Thorax: surface of pronotal disc wrinkled, densely puncticulate. Lateral portions of pronotal disc with ocellate punctures. Anteromedian portion of pronotum with a knob and a pair of shallow impressions positioned posteriorly to the knob. Transversal carina of hypomera complete, reaching the lateral edge. Surface of mesepimeron and mesanepisternum with green or dark blue reflections, finely striate. Mesepimeron with sparse and short setae. Anterior lobe of metaventrite with well-defined microgranulation. Metasternal disc flat, punctate, with a distinct mid- longitudinal sulcus. Lateral lobes of metaventrite with welldefined microgranulation and shallow punctures. Elytra: striae shallow, feebly punctate. Seventh stria absent at the basal one-seventh of elytra. Eighth stria carinate, interrupted on basal half, absent near the anterior portion of elytra. Ninth stria carinate, present only at the apical fifth of elytra, punctate on its apical half. Tenth stria carinate, present at medial portion of elytra. Interstriae with punctate and microgranulated surface. Legs [ventral surface]: profemora densely puncticulate, surface between punctures slightly wrinkled. Mesofemur and metafemur sparsely punctate. Outer edge of protibia with 3 indistinct teeth separated by feeble U-shaped emarginations. Outer edge of mesotibia and metatibia with a row of coarse teeth. Outer carina of mesotibia and metatibia with weakly defined teeth, glabrous. Inner edge of metatibia carinate, except by apical onethird that bears few setae. Abdomen: ventrites sparsely punctate, ventrites I–V with welldefined microgranulation on anterior half. Posterior half of ventrites II–IV with a row of coarse, transversely elongated punctures. Ventrite V slightly shorter than ventrites II–IV and 2 times shorter than ventrite VI. Pygidium: shiny, slightly wrinkled, densely puncticulate. Genital capsule: paramera apex divided into apical and lateral lobes by a deep Vshaped emargination. Apical lobe slightly acute. Lateral lobe truncate, slightly wider than long ( Figure 5 View Figure 5 (j)). Female: differs from male by posterior half of ventrites II–IV lacking row of coarse, transversally elongated punctures.
