Diagnosis. This species is distinguished from congeners by characters of the male terminalia.

Description. Male. Holotype: size 13 mm. Head. Face, facial gibbosity, vertex, ocellar tubercle and occipital zone with black and white setae; white beard. Dorsoventrally flattened and facing upwards; proboscis with black or yellow setae at tip. Antennae. Scape at least twice as long as pedicel. Antennae clubbed, with brown or silver pruinosity, scape white setae, pedicel black setae. Thorax. Black or metallic blue. Pronotum with long black setae laterally and white setae ventrally. Mesonotum with more or less uniform black and white pilose, sometimes scarce; long, black and strong setae, sometimes white, laterally, and white setae posteriorly. Humeral callus and pleuron without pruinosity. Anepisternum with black and/or white setae. Long black scutelar setae. Wings. Grayish brown, first posterior cell open at margin ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 5 a). Legs. Black with black and white setae and a thick femur; tibia and tarsus partially red and with strong black setae. Abdomen. Elongate, first tergite black, with black and/or white setae laterally; tergites II ̶VI orange-red with black setae laterally and gold setae medially. Terminalia. Rotated, gold to dark brown or black with black and yellow setae; epandrium entire and elongate; gonocoxite robust and gonostylus bifif part with two long and very sharpened tips and arising from gonocoxite apically ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 5 b and Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 ).

The range size observed for entire series of males is 10 to 14 mm.

Female. Size: 10–14 mm. Head. Face, vertex, ocellar tubercle and postocciput with black setae; facial gibbosity with black and white setae, and white beard. Dorsoventrally flattened and facing up proboscis with black or yellow setae at tip. Antennae clubbed, flagellum at least twice as long as pedicel, both clubbed, with brown pruinosity, and white setae on scape and black setae on pedicel. Thorax. Black or metallic blue. Pronotum with long black setae larerally and white setae ventrally. Mesonotum with thin uniform black and white pilosity; long, thick, black setae, sometimes white, laterally, and white setae posteriorly. Humeral callus with light brown pruinosity. Anepisternum with black and/or white setae. Long black scutellar setae present. Wings. Grayish brown wings with first posterior cell open at wing margin ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 5 a). Legs. Black with white setae; ground color of tibia and tarsus partially red with strong black setae. Abdomen. Elongated posteriorly, first tergite metallic blue; black and/or white setae on its lateral parts; tergites II ̶VI orange-red with black setae laterally and gold setae medially. Terminalia. Tubular, with black and/or yellow setae.

Biology and ecology. Flight period from June to August. They are common in sunny meadows and conifer forest clearings, between 900m and 2000m above sea level.

Derivatio nominis. Specific name biacuminatum derives from the Latin, bi (two) and acuminatum (tips), and it refers to the two extensions of the gonostylus.

All specimens of the type series (holotype, and 21 paratypes (10 females and 11 males) have been deposited in the National Museum of Natural Sciences in Madrid ( MNCN).
