Lectotype (Reveal in Turland & Jarvis in Taxon 46: 468. 1997): [icon] " Crotalaria Perfoliatae folio " in Dillenius, Hort. Eltham. 1: 122, t. 102, f. 122. 1732. - Typotype: Herb. Sherard No. 1457 ( OXF) .

Current name: Baptisia perfoliata (L.) R. Br. View in CoL ( Fabaceae : Faboideae ).

Note: Although Isely (in Mem. New York Bot. Gard. 25(3): 224. 1981) confirmed the identity of the Dillenius plate, he did not indicate it as the type.
