TYPE LOCALITY: Ecuador, Pichincha, near Gualea .

DISTRIBUTION: Ecuador and Guyana to Sonora and Tamaulipas ( Mexico).

SYNONYMS: hondurensis , occidentalis .

COMMENTS: Subgenus Sturnira . Includes hondurensis ; see Jones and Carter (1976:22). Bolivian records probably pertain to bogotensis ; Peruvian ones definitely do; see Anderson et al. (1982:6).
