TYPE LOCALITY: Paraguay, Asuncion .
DISTRIBUTION: Lesser Antilles; Sonora and Tamaulipas ( Mexico) to N Argentina, Uruguay, and E Brazil; Trinidad and Tobago; perhaps Jamaica.
SYNONYMS: albescens , angeli , excisum, fumarium, luciae , parvidens , paulsoni , spectrum , zygomaticus.
COMMENTS: Subgenus Sturnira . Includes angeli and paulsoni ; see Jones and Carter (1976:20). See Gannon et al. (1989, Mammalian Species, 333).
