TYPE SPECIES: Phyllostoma pusilium Wagner, 1843 .

SYNONYMS: Metavampyressa, Vampyriscus (see Jones and Carter, 1976:25).

COMMENTS: Does not include Mesophylla , but see Owen (1987). A key for this genus is presented in Lewis and Wilson (1987).
