TYPE LOCALITY: Australia, Queensland, Albany Isl (off Cape York) .

DISTRIBUTION: N Queensland ( Australia), Torres Strait Isis, SE New Guinea.

SYNONYMS: fumosus.

COMMENTS: Subgenus Taphozous . Includes fumosus; see Troughton (1925:332). Tate (1952:607) included georgianus in this species, but also see McKean and Price (1967).
