TYPE LOCALITY: French Guiana .
DISTRIBUTION: Oaxaca and Yucatan ( Mexico) to Peru, N Argentina, E Brazil, and Trinidad.
SYNONYMS: abrasus Allen (not Temminck), amplexicaudatus , barbatus , leucopleura, longimanus , major , milleri , oaxacensis.
COMMENTS: Called abrasus in Hall and Kelson (1959:211); but see Husson (1962:243-246) and Hall (1981:248).
