TYPE LOCALITY: Ethiopia, Eritrea, Massawa .

DISTRIBUTION: Senegal to Yemen, south to South Africa; Bioko; Pemba and Zanzibar; Comoro Isis; Aldabra and Amirante Isis ( Seychelles); Madagascar.

SYNONYMS: cristatus, elphicki, faini, frater , gatnbianus, hindei , langi, leucogaster , limbata, naivashae, nigri, pusillus , websteri.

COMMENTS: Includes pusillus ; see Hayman and Hill (1971:64).
