TYPE LOCALITY: Germany, Hessen, Hanau .

DISTRIBUTION: W Europe to Urals and Caucasus; Britain; Ireland; Madeira Isl ( Morocco); Azores ( Portugal); W Himalayas; E Afghanistan; NW Africa.

SYNONYMS: dasykarpos, madeirae, pachygnathus, verrucosus .

COMMENTS: Includes verrucosus , see Corbet (1978c:55), who also included azoreum ; but see Palmeirim (1991).
