TYPE LOCALITY: Egypt, Cairo .

DISTRIBUTION: SW Arabia; Egypt to Somalia, Mozambique, Botswana, South Africa, and Namibia; Mauritania and Ghana to Sudan and Tanzania.

SYNONYMS: adovanus, africanus , albiventer , australis , bedouin, cinnamomeus, fitzsimonsi , minimus .

COMMENTS: Subgenus Nycticeinops . Includes cinnamomeus; see Koopman (1975:412-413).
