TYPE LOCALITY: Austria, Vienna .

DISTRIBUTION: England, Spain, and Senegal to Mongolia and W China; Canary ( Spain) and Cape Verde Isis.

SYNONYMS: ariel , brevipes, christiei , hispanicus, kirschbaumii, kolombatovici , kozlovi , macrobullaris , meridionalis, mordax , wardi .

COMMENTS: Subgenus Plecotus . Included in auritus by Ellerman and Morrison-Scott (1951:181); but see Corbet (1978c:61) who included teneriffae , but see Ibânez and Fernândez (1985).
