TYPE LOCALITY: Indonesia, Java, Mt. Gede .
DISTRIBUTION: India to Taiwan and Vietnam, south to Molucca Isis, Java, and Lesser Sunda Isis.
SYNONYMS: lasyurus, madrassius, mordax , pearsonii , rufulus , rufus .
COMMENTS: Includes mordax , which may be a separate species; see Hill and Francis (1984).
