( Figures 22–23 View FIGURE 22 View FIGURE 23 )

Holotype Female: VENEZUELA. Amazonas state: Cerro Yutajé, 5º45’ N / 66º08’ W, 1750 m, 17–24.ii.1995, J. L. Garcia Leg. Deposited in the MIZA.

Diagnosis. U. yutajensis sp. nov. has a golden-colored head with golden coloration, black genae and basolateral clypeus, vertex with a pair of broad, cresent-shaped brown marks, and pronotum with dark brown or reddish brown lateral stripes. Furthermore, the pterostigma of U. yutajensis sp. nov. fore wing has a distinctive series of small marks.

Description. Head. Yellow, vertex smooth with paired, crescent-shaped, longitudinal marks wide, dark red ( Fig. 22 View FIGURE 22 B); antennal fossa with dark red marks; frons golden yellow, with small red mark between scapes; gena black, basolateral margin of clypeus black. Maxillary, labial palpi black, with intersegmental areas yellow ( Fig. 22 View FIGURE 22 C–D). Antenna: scape yellow with dark red stripe dorsally, internal margin tinged with dark red; pedicellus yellow, marked with black dorsolarerally; flagellum yellow, with pale bristles;

Thorax. Green; pronotum with broad, dark red stripe laterally; mesonotum ivory with red marks, metanotum unmarked; pleural, sternal areas, legs, yellow ( Fig. 22 View FIGURE 22 B). Wings ( Fig. 22 View FIGURE 22 A): forewings with longitudinal veins pale green, crossveins red-brown, but costal crossveins, basal subcostal crossvein, black; pterostigma formed by four small black marks; inner, outer gradates arranged in parallel series; basal inner gradate meeting Psm; hindwing with longitudinal veins and crossveins pale green. Abdomen. Male: Unknown. Female terminalia ( Fig. 23 View FIGURE 23 ): T9+ect rectangular; callus cerci round, with ca. 34 trichobothria ( Fig. 23 View FIGURE 23 A–B). S7 rectangular; ratio of ventral margin length: anterior margin height ca. 1.7: 1; dorsal margin slightly sinuous; surface covered with dense, long setae. Spermatheca pillbox-shaped, ventral impression shallow; spermathecal duct ca. 1.3 times height of spermatheca and velum ( Fig. 23 View FIGURE 23 C–D). Subgenitale rounded, dorsal lobes dilated laterally, extended basally ( Fig. 23 View FIGURE 23 E).

Measurements (n=1). Head: width = 1.6 mm; eye width = 0.4 mm; Pronotum: length = 1.2 mm, width = 1.2 mm. Forewing: length = 14.2 mm, width = 4.7 mm, length/width ratio = 3: 1; intramedian cell length = 1.0 mm; maximum height of costal area = 0.9 mm; five inner, seven outer gradates; hindwing: length = 12.5 mm, width = 4.0 mm, length/width ratio = 3: 1, four inner, six outer gradates.

Other material examined. None.

Known geographical distribution.

Venezuela (Amazonas state).

Species relationship. This species resembles both U. favrei and Ungla diazi sp. nov. The absence of black lateral coloration on the flagellum distinguishes this species from U. diazi sp. nov. and, of the three species, only U. yutajensis sp. nov. has four dark markings on the pterostigma of the forewing.

Etymology. The specific name refers to the type locality Cerro Yutajé, Amazonas state, Venezuela.
