Zietzia geologa Blackburn, 1894

Zietzia geologa Blackburn, 1894: 206 .

Lectotype (here designated) male ( Figs. 72–74 View FIGURES 63–74. 63–65 ): L. Mull. [Lake Mulligan, now Lake Callabonna 29.72°S, 140.10°E] (handwritten in red) | ZIETZIA geologa, Blackb. (handwritten by Blackburn) | Ty (handwritten on bluegreen label) | I.527 Zietzia geologa Bl C. Australia (handwritten) TYPE (handwritten in red, at right angle) | SAMA Database No. 25-035015 (typeset) | my lectotype label | Zietzia , protarsi and mouthparts on card; in SAM.

Paralectotype. 1 male: L. Mull. (handwritten in red) (two labels) | cotype (handwritten) | geologa Blackb (handwritten) | Cotype Zietzia geologa Blkb. (handwritten by Britton) | my paralectotype label; in SAM.

Blackburn (1894) did not define the type series, seeing an unknown number of males (vide Articles 73.1.2, 72.1.1). Lea (1912) noted that the ‘type’ was in SAM. Britton (1978) referred to a “ holotype ” male from Lake Callabonna in SAM and Houston & Weir (1992) followed this, albeit with “(probable)”. Britton (1978) presumably recognised more than one specimen in the type series as he labelled one in SAM “Cotype”. However, as Britton (1978) and Houston & Weir (1992) provided no discussion and did not label any specimen in SAM, neither mention of a holotype constitutes a valid lectotype designation (vide Article 74.5). To stabilise nomenclature, I designate the specimen in SAM the lectotype.

SAM also has two other males from Lake Mulligan and collected by Zietz in September–December 1893there are no indications that these are part of the type series and I have not labelled them as paralectotypes .
