Notre première espèce a été rapportée de l'Égypte par M. Geoffroy. Elle est tellement semblable au mérou, que nous ne l'en avons distinguée qu'après un examen minutieux et détaillé; mais cet examen, fait entre individus de même taille, nous a offert les différences suivantes.
