Distribution. Tropics and Mediterranean area. This species has been reported as a migrant in England, Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, S Sweden, and sporadically in southern part of the Central Europe. It has also been reported from Africa, Turkey, Syria, Iran, India, Hong Kong, Costa Rica, Australia, Japan, and S America ( Slamka 2013). In Iran it has been reported from Alborz (Karaj), Golestan (Golestan National Park: Sasan), Fars (Shiraz), Hormozgan (Sarzeh), and Sistan and Baluchestan (Chabahar) Provinces ( Amsel 1961; Wieser et al. 2002).

Remarks. Although the species is variable according to Slamka (2013), there is no considerable difference among the examined material in ground colour of the wings, except the spots, mainly that of the hindwing which is somehow larger in some specimens.
