Mukia nigroanalis Amsel, 1954 View in CoL

( Fig. 27E View FIGURE 27 )

Material examined. 3 ÔÔ: Châhârmahâl and Bakhtiâri Prov. : 1 Ô, S Borujen, 6 km S Dorâhân, 1850–2100 m, 1.vi.2005, Hofmann, Meineke leg.; Fârs Prov.: 2 ÔÔ, Dasht-e Arzhan, Kotal Pirezan, 2000 m, 18.vi.1972, Ebert, Pâzuki leg. (gen. prep. HA-2702, HMIM) .

Distribution. Iran: Fars Province [Sineh Sefid (locality of the holotype), Muk Rd. (locality of the paratypes)] ( Amsel 1954, 1961).

Remarks. A close resemblance of this species to Metasia carnealis (Treitschke, 1829) and M. albizonalis Hampson, 1900 (presently considered as a member of the genus Tegostoma Zeller, 1846 ) in wing markings was stated by Amsel (1954). Based on the results of this study, M. nigroanalis has many differences with the abovementioned species in the male genitalia structure. On the other hand, M. nigroanalis may be similar to members of the genus Patania in the shape of valva and partly fibula, and hence appears to belong to the tribe Agroterini , but differs from them in having no gnathos process and coremata ( Fig. 27A View FIGURE 27 ). Unfortunately, we didn’t have any female specimens among the examined material and no information about it, therefore we cannot discuss the precise tribal placement of the genus.

The genitalia of examined males showed that unlike Amsel (1954) who claimed that the phallus was without cornuti, it consists of a cluster of almost medium-sized sclerotized spines positioned at the distal end of phallus ( Fig. 28A View FIGURE 28 ). The remaining parts of the genitalia are similar to those explained by Amsel (1954: 313). The fibula is distinctly bifurcated distally with rounded tips ( Fig. 28A View FIGURE 28 ). Although the latter character had not been mentioned in the original description, it can be seen in the Amsel’s illustration ( Amsel 1954: fig. 183).
