Subfamily LIMOSININAE View in CoL

Note. The taxonomy of the huge subfamily Limosininae is fairly stable for the Holarctic region, but many genera and most species from elsewhere remain to be described. The Neotropical and Pacific genera are under revision by S. A. Marshall and collaborators (many Neotropical genera are keyed, but not yet named, in MARSHALL & BUCK (2010)), and PAPP (2004, 2008b) recently named 27 new, mostly monotypic, genera from the Oriental, Pacific and Afrotropical Regions. The latter genera are listed below without consideration of their relationships or validity. PAPP (2008b) also elevated two former subgenera of Spelobia Spuler, 1924 to generic status, and named new subgenera of Chaetopodella Duda, 1920 , Minilimosina Roháček, 1983 and Phthitia Enderlein, 1938 .These too are uncritically recorded here, even though we expect that many of the smaller new genera will be subsumed into broader generic concepts as more specimens are examined and their phylogenetic relationships considered.
