Type species (by monotypy): Trigonalys maculata Smith, 1851 .
Diagnosis. Antenna filiform with 21–26 antennomeres; supra-antennal elevations reduced, far separated; temple usually punctate; fore wing often with subapical dark patch; second metasomal sternite expanded, often with armature; third sternite never with projection or armature ( Binoy et al. 2022).
Distribution. Widely distributed genus among all trigonalids. Most species are from eastern Asia and southern America and only one species is known from Europe ( Carmean & Kimsey 1998).
