Distribution. Palearctic; first record for Ukraine.

Taxonomical remark. A large species with densely punctate mesopleuron and densely pectinate Claws. Mesosoma largely reddish; propodeum usually ± blackish; metasoma usually black, sometimes median tergites ± dark reddish; The species was misinterpreted by Schwenke (1999), for a detailed description and differentiation to Mesochorus marginatus Thomson, 1886 ( giberius sensu Schwenke ) see Vikberg & Vardal (2017: 21–23).
